Trailblazers and Rebels, women challenging history
I’m very excited to share with you that I’ve branched out into a new genre! You know I love history because of my historical trilogy, Sister’s Time Trilogy, a true story embellished by fiction. Well, last year I had the inspiration to collect all my research and history reading and write a historical nonfiction book. Since I focused most of my research and extensive reading on 19th and early 20th century women because my protagonist characters are sisters, I had stored so much info, just like a squirrel. So, I put it in a new book, yet to be a book, titled Trailblazers and Rebels.
19th century women trailblazers and rebels
The result of this latest writing frenzy is Trailblazers and Rebels; women who challenged history. This first one (I intend three) is a collection of 19th century women of interest and also features thematic chapters placing the women in the context of their time. The next one, partly written is the same theme but featuring 20th century women and their world. The third will be a collection of historical curiosities encountered down the rabbit hole. Lots of these stored. It will be fun.
Journey into the past
Trailblazers and Rebels; women who challenged history will takes you, the reader, on a fascinating journey into the past. Travel through time to meet women writers, scientists, adventurers, aviators, artists, queens and empresses. Live for the moment in the shadow of the Great War and the Titanic Tragedy and thrill at the wonder of transport and travel as it transforms the world. Feel your blood chill as you read the details of the terrible guillotine and the assassination of the young Romanov duchesses. The nineteenth and early twentieth centuries were tumultuous times in history, an era of Napoleonic wars, the Industrial Revolution and colonial expansion. Life was tough enough without being an oppressed woman in a man’s world.
Making it in a man’s world
The dominant discourse in Trailblazers and Rebels; Women who Challenged History is how women made it in the world of men whose attitudes and restrictions challenged their efforts. Sprinkled with history references and a few men, the story of women battling for power and acceptance in patriarchal societies is a testament to the feminine gender. These women paved the way for those of the twentieth century and today’s women. Trailblazers and Rebels; Women who Challenged History celebrates their lives.
Release date
I can’t announce a release date as this time as I sent the manuscript to some nonfiction accepting publishers. This is a bit of a new game for me. Will a publisher like it? Being realistic, probably not. As the work is more narrative and panoramic rather than focused on one woman, I may get a thumbs down. Meanwhile I’ll wait a few months for any feedback and if no bites, self-publish myself. However, it will happen one way or another. There will be a book. The fearless Trailblazers and Rebels want their story out there. They deserve a voice and a place in herstory.
